Thank you to "Graham of Penrith"  who advised us he loved the new comments page.  We hope to see both you and Rita again soon.

Hi Fran,

I have taken the liberty of passing on these photos of my 100th dive from Linda. She takes a great shot and I am sure she will not mind my suggestion that you may like to place them on your site. Although I know many of the regulars around the shop dive more than me, it was a special day because it is the first year I have ever passed the 100 in a calandar year. My log book indicates that 61 of these dives were done in or around Terrigal. Its a great place to dive with so many good sites and so much seasonal variation to keep you interested.

John's 100th dive for the year party.

Hi John, congratulations on a huge achievement - considering the weather we have had,

Fran.

Blowing up balloons underwater is harder than it looks.

Linda gets comfortable to take a photo.

Hi Les and Fran

Thanks for the great dives on Sunday, it made for a weekend after my day working on Saturday. Taking the scooter down was really fun, everyone had a go, it was like kids taking turns to have a go on the billy cart. I’d love to take it down to the Pinnacle and do a quick circuit to get a better idea of the site, I wonder how long one circuit will take and what the grouper will think of it?

See you next weekend

Cheers Chris

Answer - Of course you can take it to The Pinnacle - set down for the 25th - just imagine one very dizzy grouper and one even dizzier diver or two - would love to get it on video!! Many thanks to everyone who joined us on diving this weekend it really was a fun weekend.

Fran.

Congratulations to Chris Preston, John Johnston, Grant and Paula Bradley and Matt Vella in obtaining their Dive Con status. It was a hard slog but everyone got through in the end. Well done all of you.

Another comment from a diver who had gone all morning without a cup of coffee or tea until after his second dive. about 11.30 a.m. "At last I can have a bl.......y coffee, without damaging my dry suit. Well done snapper for the endurance test of the day, but the dives were worth it weren't they!"

The Blue Water is Back!

YES! After almost two months of slop that looked like a chocolate milkshake that patch of blue water that was reported moving up the coast from down south has reached Terrigal. IT IS TIME TO GET BACK IN THE WATER.

On Saturday Les took us out to Foggy Fish. I admit we were not the most encouraging group of divers ever seen as we slipped into the water clutching come-home lines and not a camera among us. By the time we had surfaced the atmosphere was much different. 30 metre visibility!!!!! At 32 metres we were navigating by looking up to see where the boat was sitting on the surface. On the safety stop we continued to enjoy the dive by watching the fish swim among the rocks on the bottom. Best of all the fish have not seen divers in weeks and mugged us trying to encourage us to split a juicy urchin with them.

Any downs to the diving? Not many. The water is 15 degrees - nothing 7mm of neoprene and a hood can’t handle and the fish and water clarity are excellent. Another 3 dives went out on the weekend to First Point, Entrance Bommies and Skillion cave and all reported a minimum 15 metres of vis.

So if your wetsuit is stiff in the garage with disuse it could well be worth your while to get into the water again.

John

Looking up to the surface.

G'day,

Les taught me to dive in December 1979 and the C card issued as a result is now starting to disintegrate from old age. It is FAUI C card with the following details:

Registration No: C.1199
Date of Issue: 2/80
Instructor No: 155

Although Les taught the course, the card was signed by Fran (though you can't really read who signed the card now).

How do I go about getting a new card before my old one falls to bits entirely?
I note from your web site that you still offer two free boat dives after graduating from your OW course. I never got back to Terrigal to do mine, is the offer still good after nearly 28 years? :)

Cheers,

Ross

Hi Ross,

Yes you are still in the record book, easy to replace card, free
boat dives are still on.

Les

James indicates he needs to share air.

Dear Fran,

I would like to say thank you from the bottom of my heart for showing me and giving me the confidence in diving.

I never thought in my wildest dreams that I would ever get back into diving again.
I am now enjoying the beauty that the sea has to offer.

Linda.

Hi Les

Just wanted to say thanks to you and Fran for turning me into a competent, confident diver. You solved my major issue of the facemask in the rescue course and I haven't looked back. I apologise for what I called you at the time but below I explain what I really meant.
